Fuel Tank & Bowser Maintenance Across the Goldfields
Keeping a Remote Mining Operation Fuelled and Compliant
Goldfields, Western Australia
Operating in the Goldfields presents real challenges when it comes to fuel infrastructure. For one mining operation in the region, ageing bowsers and fuel storage tanks had reached a point where reliability was becoming a genuine concern. Unplanned downtime in a remote location isn't just inconvenient, it's costly. Handy Fuel WA was called in to carry out a full assessment and maintenance program across the site's fuel assets, bringing everything back up to a safe and operational standard.
Handy Fuel WA got the job done with minimal disruption to our operation. They were thorough, professional, and gave us a clear picture of where our fuel system was at. We now have a proper maintenance plan in place.
Fuel system reliability is critical in remote mining environments where every hour of downtime has a cost. Handy Fuel WA provides end-to-end fuel tank and bowser maintenance services across Western Australia, including regional and remote locations. From calibration and hose replacement to fuel polishing and compliance reporting, we help operations stay running safely and efficiently. Fuel Tank & Bowser Maintenance
The site had a mix of aboveground fuel storage tanks and diesel bowsers that had been running for a number of years with minimal servicing. Several dispensers were showing signs of wear, with inaccurate metering, worn nozzles and degraded hoses presenting both safety and compliance risks. A number of coded hoses had exceeded their service life and required immediate replacement.
Handy Fuel WA's team travelled to site and carried out a structured maintenance program that covered the full fuel system. This included bowser servicing and calibration checks to ensure accurate dispensing, replacement of coded hoses and fuel nozzles, and a full internal inspection of the storage tanks to assess for contamination and structural integrity.
Fuel samples were taken and sent for lab analysis as part of the visit, which confirmed minor microbial contamination in one of the diesel tanks. Handy Fuel WA carried out a fuel polishing treatment on site to remediate the issue, removing water and particulates from the fuel before returning it to a clean, usable condition.
All work was completed in compliance with relevant Australian Standards and site-specific safety requirements. The client received a full written report covering the condition of each asset, work completed, and recommended service intervals going forward. The visit also identified two areas of the system that would benefit from upgrades, which have been scheduled as part of an ongoing maintenance agreement.
The result was a fully operational fuel system, reduced risk of unplanned breakdowns, and a clear maintenance schedule to keep things running reliably in one of WA's most demanding environments.
